Land Management Cadastral Surveying Expert
(Short Term)

The Land Management specialist should be an expert in surveyor training with experience in institutional development. • 10+ years of relevant work experience in cadastral surveying, land management/registration institution development, or surveyor training.
• Ability to develop surveyor training course content & materials.
• Working knowledge of international land titling standards and practices.

Agribusiness Consultants (Short- and Long-Term)

Association Specialist (Short Term)

Job Level:  Senior Level
Location of Duty: Almaty, Kazakhstan
Project Location: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan,Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan

Introduction:

The intended outcome of the project is the successful development of a regional and professional association for marketing professionals leading to:

·         advanced marketing competencies, practice and thought leadership;
·         role, efficacy and ethics of marketing industry promoted;
·         increased opportunities for training and networking;
·         increased access to resources on international best practice; and
·         increased leverage with associations of various fields across the Central Asia region.

In this way, the project will contribute primarily to the economic development in the region and in each country, and secondarily to the enhancement of democracy and governance in the region.

To achieve this objective, the William Davidson Institute at the University of Michigan (WDI) seeks to recruit Association Specialists to provide technical assistance to institutional capacity building of the Central Asia Marketing Association (CAMA). The consultant will travel to Almaty, Kazakhstan where the Association’s head office will be located and work closely with the CAMA staff team and the founding members on the ground.

Responsibilities:

The overall responsibility of the consultant is to promote the association concepts, principles and its formation methodologies. Under the direct supervision of WDI and the CAMA Executive Director, the consultant will be specifically responsible for:

·         Assisting the CAMA staff team and the founding members to prepare a realistic strategic management plan and detailed work plans for the first years of CAMA operation. The consultant will carry out an integrated program of analytic work, plan and policy development support and capacity building for selected staff, covering the following areas:

ü  defining membership benefits and obligations
ü  membership outreach
ü  operations management
ü  financial management
ü  business development
ü  resource development
ü  board relations
ü  public relations
ü  accountability
ü  other issues that may arise as relevant;

·         Assisting the CAMA staff team and the founding members to draft the bylaw of CAMA to be adopted at the first business meeting after the inauguration;

Qualifications:

·         BA in public management, law, business or other related field required

·         At least five year working experience in association development and with deep understanding of association concepts and principles

·         Experience in working with communities, government and non-government organizations in developing counties

·         Work experience in the Central Asia region is preferred

·         Superior verbal and written communication skills

·         Prior international development project management and field experience strongly preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel also required

·          Fluency or knowledge of the Russian language is an asset

Proposal Writer


Assignment Location: n/a

The Proposal Writer will serve as an integral part of the Business Development Consulting Team on a short-term basis for anticipated USAID-funded projects.

Responsibilities:

 

S/he should also be an excellent communicator, organizer of thoughts, manager of strict deadlines, and be able to work collaboratively with all contributors to a proposal effort.  The Proposal Writer must be able to craft convincing and well thought out proposals, and to devise and/or articulate organizational win themes.  S/he will work closely with WDI’s Technical Directors, Proposal Coordinators and Recruiters on the technical and staffing needs, as well as serve on the review team for WDI proposals.

 

Requirements:

 

S/he should have a solid background in international development, preferably including project management for USAID funded programs, and have a track record in putting together creative and winning proposals.

·         Prior experience in writing winning proposals for USAID projects

·         A deep understanding of USAID and the procurement regulations and policies employed there

·         The ability to read RFPs and quickly get to the heart of the issues

·         Superior written communication skills and the ability to edit for both content and copy 

·         Minimum 5 years development experience; prior international development project management and field experience strongly preferred

·         Superior proofreading and editing skills

·         A passion for writing, excellence, international development, and winning competitively bid proposals

·         The ability to work under deadlines and to balance multiple priorities

·         A strong teamwork orientation and the willingness to pitch in as needed to get the job done

·         BA in international development, English or other related field required.

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel also required.

 

The candidate will need to demonstrate a proven history of delivery and achievement. Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience.
