Sponsor: International Finance Corporation (IFC)
Project Period: May-July 2003
Project Summary: In 2003, WDI was asked by the IFC, part of the World Bank Group, to assess post-secondary business education in seven African countries using two MBA student teams. The countries assessed were Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania and Uganda. The research teams were give the IFC mandate of completing a "checklist" of institutional backgrounds and resources at post-secondary educational institutions with graduate management programs in each country. The intent of the research effort was to deliver a robust and contextualized understanding of the dynamic political, social, and economic environments in which selected graduate management institutions must operate and compete. A total of 22 educational institutions in the seven countries were assessed, and the resulting report was well received by the IFC.
