Social Enterprise Speaker Series: Elisabeth Rhyne, Senior Vice President, ACCION International

Elisabeth Rhyne is the Senior Vice President of International Operations at ACCION International.  Ms. Rhyne will speak on October 11, 2006 in the Betty ford Classroom #1110, School of Public Policy.  The seminar will begin at 4:30 pm with a reception to follow.  For more information about this or future speaker series events, please contact Kristen Roy at royk@umich.edu

Elisabeth Rhyne is ACCION International’s Senior Vice President of International Operations for West Africa and India. She also fulfills the role of Senior Vice President for Research, Development, and Policy. Ms. Rhyne directs ACCION's research efforts to develop new financial products for the poor, including rural lending products, housing credit and microinsurance. Additionally, Ms. Rhyne heads the Financial Management Unit as well as ACCION’s Publications Department.

Recognized as a leader in the field of microfinance, Ms. Rhyne has published numerous articles and four books on the topic, including Mainstreaming Microfinance: How Lending to the Poor Began, Grew and Came of Age in Bolivia , which was published by Kumarian Press in May 2001. She is also co-editor of The New World of Microenterprise Finance.
