Global Impact Speaker Series: David McGuire, Academy for Educational Development (AED)

David McGuire, NetMark Program Director at the Academy for Educational Development (AED), will be the guest speaker at the WDI Global Impact Speaker Series on November 15, 2007. The event will be held at 4:30 pm, Wyly Hall room W2759, Ross School of Business, with a reception to follow.
Mr. McGuire has gained recognition as a leader in the relatively new and growing field of public/private partnership for sustainable development. Mr. McGuire has educated high-level stakeholders in ministries of health, the commercial sector, and the international donor community on the usefulness and cost-effectiveness of public/private sector collatoration through shared risk and joint investment. He has brokered and managed a number of these partnerships in the areas of malaria prevention, AIDS prevention, promotion of child spcing and the prevention of diarrheal disease. He has worked and lived extensively throughout Africa and Asia.
Mr. McGuire is also Director of AED's Center for Private Sector Health Initiatives. The Center designs, brokers and implements mutually beneficial partnerships with the private sector to create sustainable health impact.
A graduate of the University of Vermont with a major in French and Political Science, Mr. McGuire received a certificate in advanced studies of the European Community from the Institut Européen des Hautes Etudes International in Nice, France, where he also studied International Relations.
