Module Overview:
Competition, change, and complexity (the 3 Cs) are the fundamental forces which characterise ‘capitalist’ market-driven economies. Change and complexity are straightforward. But the concept of competition, although seemingly similarly straightforward, and despite the claim by most people that they have a sense of one, is generally not well defined or understood in business.
The competition, change, and complexity in ‘capitalist’ market-driven economies also necessitate a sophisticated and disciplined approach to business. This sophistication and discipline come from an approach which is known as strategic management.
Module Purpose:
The purpose of this module, therefore, is to introduce the Strategic Management Program, by defining the concept of competition, and exploring the scope of strategic management.
