Dr. Greg Allgood is Director, Children’s Safe Drinking Water at Procter & Gamble and Senior Fellow in Sustainability. Dr. Allgood has been with P&G for 21 years and leads P&G’s efforts to provide safe drinking water in the developing world. He has a Ph.D. in Toxicology from
North CarolinaStateUniversity and a Master of Science in Public Health from the University of North CarolinaChapel Hill, where he did research in the water area.
The focus of the Children's Safe Drinking Water program is provision of safe drinking water through a novel household water treatment product called PUR Purifier of Water. This program won the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) World Business Award in 2004 and the Stockholm Industry Water Award in 2005, and the inventors of the PUR product were recognized as Inventors of the Year in 2006. In 2007, the program received the Grainger Challenge Bronze Award for Sustainability.
 
Dr. Allgood is chair of the communications working group of WHO’s International Network to Promote Household Water Treatment and Safe Storage and serves on the interim steering committee of The Global Water Challenge and UNICEF’s Global Task Force on Water and Sanitation. He was recognized as Distinguished Alumnus of the Year in 2006 from his alma mater, the Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering at UNC-Chapel Hill.  

He received the 2006 International Health Communication Gold Medallion from the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health’s Center for Communication Programs. He is a frequent lecturer on public-private partnerships, sustainability, and safe drinking water in the developing world. He has published and presented invited presentations in the areas of water quality, gastrointestinal health, and nutrition.
