As the laboratory of our Social Enterprise Initiative, WDI formed the NGO Alliance Central & Eastern Europe & Eurasia, a coalition of civil society organizations committed to working on various aspects of economic development in their countries and are adopting commercial approaches to self-sustainability. These strategies can include membership fees, fee for services, marketing products, and the rental of unused equipment or real estate.
The goal of the Alianza ONG is to create networking opportunities and opportunities for NGOs to share their social enterprise experiences and to disseminate best practice in the following areas:
- Application of business tools to solve social problems
- Strategies for generating income and reduce donor dependence
- Partnerships between ONGs, corporations and governments
- Development of the third sector through government policy
Members of the Alianza ONG contribute their experiences and perspectives in WDI publications, attend conferences, and receive technical assistance from WDI staff and social enterprise experts.
