The William Davidson Institute (WDI) and the Nonprofit and Public Management Center (NPM) at the University of Michigan are pleased to announce the “Social Enterprise and Entrepreneurs in Emerging Markets” speaker series. This speaker series -- part of WDI’s Social Enterprise Research Initiative -- explores the changing roles of NGOs, corporations, and governments in achieving social impact. In the series, academics, practitioners, foundation leaders, and others will share their insights on social enterprise as a global trend. Talks will be held one Wednesday a month with a reception following each talk. Please look on our website or contact Kristen Roy, royk@umich.edu, for time and location of each talk.
The WDI Social Enterprise in Emerging Markets initiative explores the changing and expanding role of NGOs, corporations and governments in achieving social impact. The traditional roles of these three sectors are converging and should no longer be viewed as competing forces or independent agents. Models of innovative social enterprise strategies are widespread in developed countries, and the next step is to use this momentum to “scale up” and replicate social enterprises to reach more people. For more information about social enterprise in the international context, visit the webpage for WDI Social Enterprise Research Initiative.
We look forward to hosting a diverse group of students at these events. This is a great opportunity to meet some thought leaders in the field and get inspired!
