Title VIII Competition Application

APPLICATION GUIDELINES

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • be U.S. citizens or permanent residents
  • have completed a PhD degree or be a current PhD candidate
  • show a demonstrated commitment to the study of transition economies in Eurasia or Central and Eastern Europe

Collaborative projects are eligible, but only if the non-U.S. collaborator is funded from other sources.

All awardees will need to comply with the University of Michigan’s human subjects approval requirements for the Behavioral and Social Sciences.  Click here for more information.

Application Procedures

The following 4 items must be received no later than January 28, 2006:

1. Cover sheet – Please complete and include the attached cover sheet.

2. Proposal – The proposal should not exceed 10 double-spaced typed pages (font size 12, minimum of 1” margins on all sides) and should describe the objectives, methodology, expected results, timetable and participants. It is expected that all grant recipients will submit a working paper to the Davidson Institute and ISR Working Paper Series detailing the results of their research. In addition, recipients are required to submit a five to ten page policy brief for inclusion in the Davidson Institute Policy Brief Series, describing the main findings of their research in non-technical language, and resulting policy implications.

3. Budget – Please use the attached budget form to provide an itemized estimate of project-related costs. The maximum allowed for indirect (facilities and administrative) costs is 10% of the direct costs.

4. Curriculum Vitae – The CV should be no more than 4 pages.
